The grant request is to purchase software to enhance reading skills of students who may not be on grade level. Selected students from grades K-5 will be impacted. Students will be selected to participate based upon need for the specific type of instruction the program provides.
The goal of providing the program to students is to raise their levels of achievement in all areas of reading--phonics knowledge, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development.
The program is an interactive and responsive reading program designed to engage the learner with targeted learning activities specific to the individual learner. It assesses the student's skill level through many different activities and designs an individual program for that individual student. The program engages the learner through visual, auditory, and tactile activities.
The program will be offered during the school day as an enrichment to the reading curriculum and can be worked on anywhere a computer is available. The students will also be able to work at home or any other place with computer access and supports the use of iPads.
