This application seeks funding to continue participating for a ninth year in a local environmental restoration project through the Galveston Bay Foundation's "Get Hip to Habitat" program.
This program supports and builds on the state and national curriculum objectives for the Aquatic Science and AP Environmental Science classes.
All students enrolled in theses classes will have the opportunity to establish a salt marsh wetland nursery at the high school early in the fall semester, monitor growth and water conditions, make adjustments to maintain plant growth during the year, and transplant the established grasses to a wetland restoration site surrounding Galveston Bay near the end of the spring semester.
Students will also have an opportunity to interact with experts in restoration efforts from the Galveston Bay Foundation.
