Makerspace is a collaborative workspace for making, learning, exploring, collaborating and sharing that uses high tech to no tech materials.
The Deepwater JHS Makerspace will be housed in the library, with library computers and student-issued iPads available to support various activities. The Library staff will manage student access to and use of the materials, with support from the campus CTIS, the Robotics/Tech teacher, science and other interested teachers.
The Makerspace will be available to all students in two ways: self-service and an afterschool program. Many of our Makerspace items will be used by students on a self-serve basis, such as art supplies, Legos, and various building materials. The goals are to support STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) by providing students with opportunities to explore, collaborate and problem-solve.
